Grandchildren Are Funny
I have three granddaughters. The oldest is twelve and lives 900 miles away while the other two, both under four years old, are just a fifteen-minute drive away. I get to see them on a regular basis, and it's always a joy watching my three year old granddaughter entertain us with phrases like "That's OUTRAGEOUS!" or "I'm over it!" And of course, nothing is ever good enough for her when she says “That’s unacceptable!” Her current top interests include Baby Shark and Gabby's Dollhouse.
Her favorite activity is helping Pappy do the dishes. This is always a delight for her, as she absolutely loves to splash around in the bubbles at the kitchen sink.
My granddaughter sees me as her personal playground. She jumps, climbs and slides down my legs all day long, leaving me aching and exhausted by the end of it. After all, she doesn't believe I have an age.
When I tell her that Grandma's legs are feeling tired or sore, she just wants to kiss them and make them feel better. I wish it were that easy to take away the pain.
Seeing my granddaughters grow and learn is one of the most rewarding experiences in life. As they get older, I can see their personalities come out, and watching their profiles change is always a delight.
I get to experience special moments with each of them that bring me endless joy. Like when my twelve year old granddaughter texts me to watch her latest Youtube video she created or when my three year old helps Pappy do the dishes in the sink with her enthusiasm.
It's amazing to watch them discover new skills and knowledge that will help shape who they become as adults one day. It’s incredible that they’re now young beings capable of problem solving, creative thinking, and expressing themselves through words and actions instead of just being little ones who depend on us for everything.
Every single moment I spend with them fills me with so much pride and love. I wouldn't give up any of this for the world – even though it sometimes leaves me aching afterwards!
