If It's Monday, It Must Be Bingo Night!
After relocating to this retirement community, we soon discovered that Bingo was a popular activity to join in on.
Our first night at bingo, we made a few mistakes:
1. We paid for our cards with a twenty dollar bill. This was frowned upon and we were quickly scolded for not having having smaller bills. The logic behind it was explained to us after, although it was still embarrassing to be spoken to in front of people we barely knew.
2. My Curtis called out bingo too late as the next number was on its way to being called, which is forbidden.
3. We won a couple of games and the other bingo-goers gave us glares. I would like to say that our success was due to luck from being newbies.
On our following visit, we were reprimanded for talking too much and distracting other people from hearing the bingo caller. From then on, every Monday I came to play bingo, I feared what would be the cause of the next scolding. However, two years later, I hadn't been corrected again since I had strictly followed the rules of the game.
Let me tell you a bit about what goes on at bingo nights. You can always hear the bells ringing when I-22 is called. Nobody seems to know why that happens. Or at least I don't. Then there's the guy who blows his train whistle every time the caller says O-69. Without a doubt, people whisper "pervert" under their breaths. Despite that, nobody ever gets scolded for this behavior.
I want to pick a special number and make a barnyard sound every time it is called but for some reason I think I would be the one to get scolded.
Overall, I do love going to bingo and, last week, I won a special game worth sixty dollars. How lucky could one person get? That cash is staying in my bingo pouch, so I can use it during the upcoming weeks. Note - The fact that I have a bingo pouch makes me realize I have hit the retirement age or as my son laughs and tells me "I am doing old people stuff"
Hmmff, what does he know. I could make my fortune playing bingo and then we will see who's laughing.
