Useful Resources for those 55 and Over
After doing some research, I have come up with these useful resources for those that are 55 and Over.
AARP: AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides information and services to people 50 and older. Their website has a wealth of resources, including articles on health, finances, and travel, as well as a directory of local services.
National Council on Aging (NCOA): The NCOA is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of older adults. Their website provides information on a variety of topics, including aging in place, long-term care, and elder abuse.
Eldercare Locator: The Eldercare Locator is a service of the U.S. Administration on Aging that helps people find local services for seniors. You can search by zip code or service type.
National Institute on Aging (NIA): The NIA is a federal agency that conducts and supports research on aging. Their website has a wealth of information on topics such as health, cognitive function, and aging in place.
Meals on Wheels: Meals on Wheels is a national organization that delivers meals to homebound seniors. They offer a variety of meal plans, including vegetarian and kosher options.
HealthFinder: HealthFinder is a website from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that provides information on a variety of health topics, including aging.
National Directory of Home Modification and Repair Resources (HMRC): The HMRC is a database of home modification and repair resources for seniors. You can search by zip code or service type.
Hero Medication Manager: Hero Medication Manager is a free app that helps seniors manage their medications. The app allows you to track your medications, set reminders, and get alerts if you miss a dose. Please note the app may be free but you need to purchase the dispenser on a monthly fee. It is possible but not definite your health insurance may cover it
